Nestled within the Pokolbin wine region of Hunter Valley, The Convent provides a beautiful setting for your perfect all-inclusive wedding.

The historic Convent, originally built in 1909, was once home to the Brigade Order of nuns in Coonamble, central NSW. In 1990 it was transported to Pokolbin, and transformed into the stylish hotel and gardens it is today.

Located within The Convent are four separate locations that you can choose from to host your wedding reception. One of those choices is the award-winning, fine dining restaurant, Circa 1876.

With its own organic cottage garden and picturesque vineyard, Circa 1876 has a whimsical charm, that is unmatched in the Hunter Valley. The original cottage dates back to 1876 and is full of antiques and charms which add to the magic of your wedding day.

As well as growing much of its own produce on site, this iconic restaurant sources the finest and rarest Hunter Valley regional wines and ingredients, all of which are combined to create world-class cuisine. So whether it is a degustation menu or a cocktail style service you can be sure, you and your guests will be treated to a unique dining experience.

A feature of Circa 1876 is the elegant French doors which open onto the verandah and out onto the surrounding gardens. The encompassing verandah also features a large undercover decking which provides a great area for you and your guests, to relax and mingle or to dance the night away, with a DJ or live band.

As with all locations within The Convent, you can expect your dedicated Wedding Coordinator and the team at Circa 1876, to deliver absolute perfection and memories, you will never forget.

Wedding Ceremony

The Convent estate provides you with many special wedding ceremony options depending on how large or intimate your wedding will be.

Perhaps the most popular ceremony location for receptions held at Circa 1876 is the enchanting aisle garden located right outside the restaurant. This beautiful location is perfect for your wedding ceremony and then provides a beautiful setting for your guests to enjoy canapés and pre-dinner drinks, while you and your Bridal party are being photographed in the surrounding estate.

Other wedding ceremony locations within The Convent include the Chapel, Grand Marquee, Willow Tree, Wisteria Garden and the Convent Fountain. All locations include eight wooden pews and a signing table.
